The Death of Me....
We all know Silas...we know he's rotten...we know he says whatever he thinks - which most 3 year olds do. The problem is: WHAT HE THINKS!
I get this email today from Kelly:
"has Silas been talking about seeing people naked lately? or some discussion about him seeing (or not seeing) people naked?...it's all he's talked about the last few days"
Well, I can tell you he isn't seeing much in the way of naked around here. And I'd imagine not at Kelly's. And he wouldn't see naked at my parents if his life depended on it...so...
me: "well, he has been asking a lot if (so and so) will laugh if they see him naked. but we haven't had any naked talks...or rather...talks about nakedness"
kelly: "he asked the same thing to (little girl S) - if you see me naked will you laugh?"
me: "maybe he's channeling Mason's thoughts?? seems much more like a 14 year old would think." UGH!!!!!
So, we did have the nakedness talk to Si when he got home. It's not polite to ask about nakedness, talk to anyone about nakedness, ask anyone if they want to get naked...ask if they want to see you naked. Nothing. No naked talk.
Okay. all is fine and dandy until after dinner. Then I take Mason's phone because he is slacking on this homework. I look to see that he's been on Myxer (is that bad?) and I see that some of the ring tone names are really raunchy.
"Mason I don't really want you on this site. The stuff is raunchy."
Mas: "huh, what, why not, what's bad??"
I read down a few of the songs: sex this, bonk that, Boats and Hoes, yada yada..
when up pipes Si: "Boats and Hoes mama, that rhymes - BOATS AND HOES RHYME!"
Well...
1. NO they don't rhyme
2. How can I discipline (him or Mas) when I'm laughing my butt off?
and
3. Is he going to go to school tomorrow saying that "boats and hoes" rhyme and talk about being naked? Can a 3 year old get kicked out of preschool??
'Tis the Season!
'Tis also the Season for...

A Very Unorganized Update
1. Margie's 9 months post-chemo scan results have come back NED :-) Yippee!! NED means No Evidence of DISEASE!
2. Miss Cleo has had THE awaited appointment and is now declawed and spayed. I LOVE this cat - she is a total doll, but she put some serious hurtin' on our leather couches during the couples weeks that we had her with claws.
4. Klutzy Silas has struck again. He fell out of the blue porch chair and did a head-dive onto the concrete. I'm seriously surprised that Childrens Services hasn't come calling on us...
5. Silas started his first round of swim lessons at the Y. He did great. I remember when Mason started taking swim lessons - it took about 10 sessions before he'd even put his face in the water. Luckily, Silas has been around pools and water since birth (thanks to the James' lovely pool). He is totally at ease in the water. He was freezing his butt off though.
7. This wonderfully, beautiful weather that we are having has gotten us outside a lot in the evenings. I would take the weather year-round with a couple days of snow at Christmas.
9. Mason - he avoids the camera as much as possible. but he still exists. More about him later....

Parent letter for a teacher
Mason's English teacher gave the parents an assignment - write her a letter about our kid...this was ours.
Mason J. parent letter…
Mason, Mason, Mason…hmm…he is the oldest of 3 children. He has a sister that is 6 years old and in 1st grade at
Mason is a kid with a good sense of humor and a good heart. Sometimes he will go overboard with the humor (at least at home!) but will go out of his way to help, to play with the neighbor kids, to tend to animals (ours and others) and he loves our dog, Zoe and kitten, Cleo.
We learned around 2nd grade that Mason appears to be an auditory learner. He’d learn how to do his spelling words when we’d practice with him in the tub and ask him to spell it out verbally versus having him sit and write it out (which he hated and didn’t seem to learn as much from). He is a great reader and likes to read fiction books (though he will deny that he likes to “read” because he doesn’t think it is “cool”). He’s read all the Harry Potter books, the Twilight series and some Stephen King too. He tends to excel at science. English, on the other hand, is not his best subject - especially writing. He does have a creative mind and when he does write – creates some very interesting stories.
Mason is a POKEY child! When he was making the transition from his 2nd year of preschool to Kindergarten, his teacher’s only concern was that he is “a pokey child”. He’s unorganized a great deal of the time (as are his parents…), but he is very bright and has done very well in school so far without much effort.
We want to encourage him to understand that high school is different, it takes effort…lots. We want to see that he is putting forth the effort and we want to encourage him to be involved in many different activities to discover his interests in life. Our goal this year is to help him do better with his organizational skills, and encourage him to put more effort into school and to commit to exploring different activities.
One last thing – as a kid, Mason LOVED Batman…to the point that he wouldn’t go out of the house without his mask and cape…
Her response: I LOVE the picture!!! It made my heart just melt.
(mine too...)
