Catch 22

Either we have nothing going on and I have time to blog but not much to blog about....or we have so much going on that there is no time for blogging. The last several weeks have been the latter.

Our summer break is officially underway!!  So far we've helped Kevin of the Waco Mascos celebrate his 40th birthday.  He got a lovely pedicure out of the evening :)

Me and Justin at one of the bars

I took the kids to the zoo on their first Monday of summer break.  It was a perfect zoo day - the weather was gorgeous. We saw the new polar bears, lions, tigers, bears, wolves, manatees, reptiles and much more.

Ella and Si - love his ornery face here.

Silas is about mid-way through t-ball.  It is quite an hour trying to chase and direct eleven 3&4 year olds on hitting, running, fielding, etc. while trying to get them to keep their hands to themselves, stop eating dirt and please don't lay spread eagle in the middle of the infield...
here is Si in action

Last weekend was the Bull family's last horrah with the neighborhood gang.  It was quite a good time, and with a fitting going away present...a hangover...sorry Kelly!

We will miss you Bulls!

It's Official...

We always thought that we were the champions, but this makes it official - this trophy seals the deal...at least for this year.

The Bulls hosted a chili cook-off last night. There were 8 neighborhood families that entered. There were 3 judges and the chili was scored based on taste, consistency, color and aroma. There was also a popular vote rated by all attendees. We won 1st, the Wendels placed 2nd and the Mascos got the popular vote.

Now that there is a trophy involved, I think the competition will heat up for next year. Everyone will want the coveted prize on their mantle!

It was a ton of fun and the leftovers were great for lunch today!

Ho-Ho-Halloween!

More October fun today! We were running a little late carving our pumpkins because of my Chicago trip, so we did it this afternoon before trick-or-treating.

Then we had a fun filled Trick-or-Treat evening with all our neighborhood buddies.

The Moms took the kids around the 'hood, keeping warm with some coffee and Bailey's, the Dads handed out the candy...it's becoming a fine tradition!

McKenna, Silas, Sam, Allysa, Ella, Ashlee

Ella was Hannah Montana this year.
Mason was the scary thing from Scream - gross....

But Silas stole the show...(notice the lack of photos of Ella and Mason...)

For the last couple weeks, Silas has said he wants to be Santa for Halloween.
Turns out that he really meant it, so today Justin and I found an old outfit of Ella's, got fabric adhesive and some quilt batting and Justin got to work on cutting and adhering! A Santa hat, one of my belts, a beard net from one of the plants that Justin has done work in (with the batting glued to it as well) and....SANTA!

He was a big hit around the neighborhood. He took it pretty seriously too. Said his Ho-ho-ho's and everything!

How about our spooky house!?

happy halloween!!
