Baby boy, part 2

Silas lost his first tooth last night!! He was brushing his teeth and noticed blood. At first he freaked out and cried a little and then he noticed his tooth was missing. We both panicked a bit thinking he had spit it down the drain but after wading through a little toothpaste spit, I found it clinging to the side of the sink.

Now he has a nice gaping hole and is so excited to have lost his first tooth!
The tooth fairy came and gave him a whopping $5 for this first tooth (but he was warned that the others don't pay out nearly as well!)

Baby Boy

Last night Silas had a tough time going to sleep. He was up and down 5 or 6 times - his tooth was wiggling and hurt, his eye hurt, his belly didn't feel good. Just all kinds of ailments that manifested in his body and brain while trying to avoid sleep. Finally I asked him if he'd like me to rock him for awhile. He said yes and crawled up onto my lap.

His legs hang down to my knees and he weighs almost half of me but I was thrilled to have him snuggled up on me in the dimness of his puppy light (that's his night light), rocking together and me rubbing his back. I enjoyed it greatly but almost in a bittersweet way...thinking soon he won't have even this teensy bit of baby left in him. When it was time for him to get back into bed, he hopped off my lap and got in himself. He's really about too big for me to pick up and carry anymore.
Time seems to move at warp speed with him, even more so than with Mason and Ella. I don't feel like it's possible that he's a day over 3 but he'll be 6 in just a few months!!

Luckily, he's doing a great job of recording his own childhood on my iPhone. I have no fewer that 90 self portraits of him stored on it. It eats up a lot of my space but makes me smile when I see them :)

My silly baby boy.

CamWow

CamWow is an iPhone app.  Thanks to Aunt Amanda getting Ella hooked on it, I now have the app on my phone. It provides hours of amusement...

I thought this one that Ella took of Zoe and Cleo was very cool.

Me and Ella.  We really do look alike :)

Ella with a swirly face.

Ella has a rather large.eye.

Had ET and I mated and had a daughter of my coloring...

This is how channel 10tv gets those pictures of the people that they interview.
This is what I think I'd look like if my mamma and dadda had been brother and sister.
This is what I'm going to look like if I start smoking heavily, stop brushing my teeth and move into a mobile home.

That's CamWow for ya!

Time Keeps on Slippin' Slippin' Slippin'

The last couple weeks have been a blur of activity as the kids get settled back into school, and we adjust to getting out of bed at the crack of dawn (or before) again.  While I'm happy to have a schedule back into the day-to-day, I'm a strong believer that school should not start until after Labor Day!  I continue to struggle with the feeling that there just isn't enough time do all the stuff we want to do and that time is just slippin' right by.

I was traveling to LA again this past week.  95% of me hates to travel, especially when I'm leaving the family behind.  I don't like the worry about how to cover my absence (especially since I work from home and do the school drop off/pick up, etc), dinners, homework, bedtime.  I know it's stressful and tiring for Justin to do everything on his own. The other 5% of me loves the big fluffy King sized bed at the nice quiet hotel with yummy dinners delivered to my room :)
I really missed the kids the few days that I was gone.  I made Justin text me a picture on the walk to school Tuesday morning. I love walking them to and from school.
I was happy to get back home and into the household routine.  It was great to have a long weekend after the trip.  We decided to stay home all weekend and just putz around here, let the kids just hang out and no run a million place.  Mason had a lot going on with friends this weekend - football game, stayed with a friend, went to a party - all the fun stuff teenager so :)  Ella and Silas had friends sleep over and then mostly bummed around in their pj's a lot of the weekend (especially Silas).  I think the new school year is really taking a toll on him!
We have tomatoes out the wazoo from the garden!!  Justin spent time on Sunday learning to can and hopefully we'll get about 12 jars of salsa and also some sauce stored.
We seemed to do a lot of cooking this weekend - Justin also made a cake for Amanda's birthday yesterday (it was a very yummy chocolate cake with cream cheese icing) and then he made chocolate chip pancakes at 10pm last night so that the kids could have them for breakfast this morning.  He's such a good dad :)
About the only thing I really accomplished this weekend was getting the menu and grocery shopping completed and a 9 mile run on Monday.  I finally feel like I might actually be able to complete this 13.1 mile run in October.   The cooler weather helps tremendously.
I can't believe it's September already!!  Last night we had an amazing sunset.  It was just gorgeous - I can always catch a good one outside of my kitchen window but I wish I had a better view of it!
Now it's back to work, school, etc.  I'm hoping to have a really productive work week to get my caught up after traveling and the long weekend.  Which means I'd better go and get to it!
