Blizzardly Birthday Bash!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELLA!

Today we celebrated Ella's 5th birthday (though she is very technical and says she won't be 5 until Monday). We were lucky in that many of the invitees were neighborhood friends and we had a few brave souls that traveled in this horrible weather (sorry Kelly that it took awhile to figure out you were stuck!).

Here is the Happy Birthday singing - sorry it's fuzzy but I had to edit it

and here is a link to the Blizzard and Birthday pictures (click the picture below - right click to open in a new window)

It's all the news - really. They've had special coverage on TV ALL morning because we're under a Blizzard advisory and have gotten 11 or so inches so far.
Justin's been out shoveling because today is also Ella's birthday party...figures!

I'll post more party pictures this weekend :)

A special little B Team prayer

Some (most) of you know or know of our friends either by the "B Team" or Doug and Sheri, our old (as in we've know them a long time) friends from "the apartment" on Broad Meadows days (loved that apartment!).
We had our first kids within weeks of each other and when my water broke all over my nice clean sheets, Sheri was a dear and even with a newborn of her own, was thoughtful enough to change the sheets for us before we got home from the hospital.

This is Victoria and Mason as babes

Doug was diagnosed with 3rd/4th stage lung cancer in the fall - and it's been quite the battle, especially with the fact that the family (of 6 - they have 4 awesome kids ages 12.5 down to 1) had relocated to KY in August after an extended time apart while daddy Doug was working 6 or so hours away.
So - tomorrow - Friday- is Doug's 6th and last chemo treatment and we all want to say a HUGE prayer- for him, for Sheri, for the kids and for awesome results.
"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."

Such a Handy Man!

When I got the new desk, I started looking for a new filing cabinet or storage piece of some sort for the front room. I found this online at an unfinished wood place. I thought it was nice and Justin could stain it to match the desk. Well, it came in 1000 pieces that had to be glued and screwed together so he spent all day Saturday doing that. But only after he made some modifications to it as well. Here is what the piece looks like now - after it's been Pimp My Cart -ified

It is a dark, dark brown like the desk AND notice that he squared out all the door handles and cut groves in each door to match the desk - he's either a FREAK or pretty good at this kind of stuff :) Either way, I love it!!

Grooving after dinner

We've gotten into the habit of turning on loud music after dinner while we are cleaning up the dinner dishes. The kids run around and dance and it makes the clean up much more fun. This is one of their favorite crazy dancing songs right now (Tim Armstrong - Into Action). You'll see Si really shaking his groove-thang about 1/2 way through.

I hate to be a big wuss, but I am in so much pain - if they still hurt this badly next week, I'm going back and making him take these horrible things off my teeth!
