A Special Day...and a Uvula

Today was a special day for my husband...3/28/09...the official grand kick-off of TOOL CLUB. I have book group, stamping group and I'm-losing-my-mind-I need- a -few- drinks- across -the -street- group. Apparently Justin was feeling a bit left out. He decided to form tool club - an apparently all day, once a (maybe) month group to tackle the minor but needed home repairs for the group members. Today they started at Greg's and replaced some rotting wood trim, next was Sean's where they tackled landscaping and then to our house where they moved the martin bird house (which became very unstable after all the high winds) and then moved on to dig post holes for the new fence that will go around our garden area. They are ending the evening at Rooster's with wings and beer.

There were several MIA members this time because of spring break but I do believe this will be a great success for all. A few of the Tool Club wives enjoyed getting the tools out of the house for the day!

We stopped at the library today after visiting Margie at the hospital (yes, she is still in there). The kids plum tuckered her out. It is the first visit she's had from them, and most likely the last! We stopped to get a few books on the way home and the kids needed to pose with them.

Teen years with these 2 are going to be a bitch...

Measure of a Good Day

Silas now likes to pee standing up. We've had a few issues with this...mainly bad aim. Today he was very pleased with himself - and exclaimed:
"hey, hey - look! I didn't pee back there (pointing to the back of the toilet seat) or on my fingers!"

10 billion beads

Aunt Abby, Uncle Shawn, cousins Molly, Myles and Hud sent Ella a great birthday present...
Perlerbeads.com! They have provided hours of amusement in the few short days we've had them.

I just pray to God that the beads don't get knocked over and spill all over the floor - there are about 10,000 per bag!

Bubbles

Ella and Silas typically take a bath together - but one usually wants bubbles and the other doesn't (and they can never seem to agree on the same night). Somehow they managed to come to a bubble agreement and here's what it looked like:

A quick Margie update:
She had an 8 hour surgery on Monday, is still in the hospital and doing well. She is up walking around and Dr. L is pleased with her progress. Say a prayer that she heals quickly and has no complications.

Zoo Night

We had a fun time at the zoo last night, helping our friend, Danielle's, teen group raise money for their Costa Rica trip. We got to meet Jungle Jack Hanna. Silas wasn't really impressed but we were!

Silas was impressed however with the snake's ooky, spooky tail when it moved.

Mason got a kick out of holding the snake.

My favorite was Pokey the Sloth. He was really funny to watch.
He moved like he'd been smoking some wacky tobaccy.

This was Ross, one of the new cheetahs at the zoo.

We also got to go on a night walk of the zoo - it's a spooky place at night! We saw some of the animals in North America, the Discovery Reef and then some fun stuff at the Education building (like a hedge hog, baby gators, a porcupine, an aardvark (really strange looking things!) and some other fuzzier animals too.

From my pregnancy journal...

I was at Kohl's shopping when my water started leaking...thought I had peed my pants :(
Called the doctor around 5:30pm, they said come to Riverside to check it out. The nurse checked, said it was fluid and "you're having a baby!"
They started Petocin at 6pm....nothing happened until 8:30pm when I started having contractions...bad contractions! At 9pm I was ready for my epidural but the damn guy didn't show up until 10pm!

I'm a happy camper after I got my drugs!

The first thing I remember is how loud her cry was as soon as she made her entrance into the world. She was so perfect looking...tiny and petite.

I was in awe at how beautiful she was, right out of the womb - even covered in slime. She came out looking up, her eyes wide open. She pinked up very quickly. her mouth looks just like Mason's, especially when she cries.


She is very alert...she didn't sleep much the first night at the hospital. She wanted to be held close.

From a few weeks later...
Mason loves his baby sister. He kisses on her so much that we have to tell him to stop. He doesn't wipe the food from his face and then kisses her and gets it all over the top of her head and hair.
The first few weeks have been rough. She is fussy, I've had mastitis, a uterine infection, thrush, and strep throat. And she NEVER sleeps unless we hold her. But how I love my baby girl...

Bowling Birthday Bash

We celebrated Ella's birthday this weekend. She decided this year that she would like to have a bowling party.

1 party girl + 2 brothers +12 girls + 1 boy (Ethan - who loved the idea of being surrounded by so many girls) + 1 Grandpa and 1 Aunt Amanda + lots of parents = we had ourselves a party!

Ella HAD to wear her favorite party skirt...and her favorite shirt (Daddy's Snow Angel). If you've seen pictures of her 4th birthday...this outfit will look very familiar! Loved watching her bowling in her party skirt!
